Almost 2 months ago, I made a commitment to blog weekly on my website to keep it fresh and to share things and stimulate conversations and all the things websites are supposed to do and I really want to do. I grandly and spectacularly fell off that mission, as life got complicated and I struggled to maintain through two moves, major life transitions, and several curve balls life has thrown me over the past two months. Things are finally settled, I have moved back to Bellingham, and I am ready to be Back in Action!
As always, when I come out of a challenging time in life, I get introspective about what I learned during that time and want to share that with others to the degree that it may bring insight into their lives as well. What has come up for me about this falling off of commitment is how often we do that with something in our lives that is so important to us: our exercise program, our desire to hang out with our kids more, to eat more nutritious foods, to meditate, to laugh more, to get that massage…the list is both endless and personal, and yet the theme is ever so common because of the fallible human beings that we are. The best thing we can do for ourselves is to forgive ourselves for our transgressions, so to speak, and jump back on the horse and start to ride again! It’s never to late to start something, the jumping off point is here and now.
I want to encourage ALL of us to start that thing we have been putting off, whether it’s spring cleaning or bike riding or taking better care of ourselves in some way. Get specific, outline a plan, set realistic goals, and let’s all do something small and intentional today that will help us reach for a larger desire that we each have for ourselves and for our lives. There is no time like the present to begin.
